spitfiretrombones world champions!                                               “given a real performance full of risk taking. They won because they had a feel for the architecture - a sense of the over-arching form” Gary Carpenter

Spitfire Trombones have just been awarded first prize in the prestigious ITA Trombone Quartet Competition.

The competition was the opening event in the ITF 2006, held in Birmingham UK. The other finalists were the 3.1 Trombone Quartet from the Rotterdam Conservatorium, coached by George Wiegel, and Four Bones from the Liszt Academy of music, coached by Balázo Winkler. All three groups were required to play Locus Iste by Anton Bruckner and Secret Love Songs by Gary Carpenter. Chris, Jonny, Matt and Richard would like to thank Eric Crees for all his help and guidance during their preparation for the event. The prize of $1000 was donated by the International Trombone Association.
